Where we started
What began as a classic Kiwi start-up has blossomed into a leading global technology company that helps millions of people get back home in one piece, every single day.
The idea for ecoPortal first came into focus when our CEO, Manuel Seidel was completing his PhD in Sustainability Management at University. As he dove deeper into compliance with local and international standards for environmental, safety, and quality management, it became clear: achieving certification is just the starting point; real value lies beyond the paperwork.
Unlocking opportunity
The key realisation soon followed- many businesses meet standards but miss critical opportunities to reduce risk and enhance performance. Instead of merely ticking boxes, organisations have the chance to leverage compliance as a catalyst for creating meaningful and sustainable change in organisational culture.
Recognizing this common challenge in compliance unlocked a unique opportunity to help businesses navigate this landscape. We found that many organisations fall into the compliance trap, relying on isolated (and often paper-based), solutions for specific roles.
Socialising change in Health and Safety
Inspired by the rise of social networking, we aimed to create a system that engaged everyone across the organisation. A platform that would foster collaboration and empower all team members to take an active role in moving beyond compliance to improve performance.
We saw the potential to redefine compliance and drive meaningful change in business health and safety engagement. This was where it all began.
